Oil Filter Installation Instructions for 125cc and 185cc Motorcycles and ATVs

Tools Needed:

1. Oil Filter Wrench – To safely remove the old oil filter without damaging it.

2. Socket Wrench Set – For removing the oil drain plug and any necessary components.

3. Oil Drain Pan – To catch the old oil during the changing process.

4. Funnel – To prevent spills when adding new oil.

5. Rags or Cloth – For cleaning any spills and wiping hands.

6. New Oil Filter – Ensure you have the correct filter for your motorcycle or ATV model.

7. New Engine Oil – Check the owner’s manual for the recommended oil type and amount.

8. Gloves – To keep your hands clean and protect them from oil.

9. Safety Glasses – To protect your eyes from any splashes.

Installation Steps:

1. Preparation:

   • Ensure the motorcycle or ATV is on a level surface.
   • Turn off the engine and allow it to cool completely.

2. Drain Oil:

   • Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
   • Using the socket wrench, carefully remove the oil drain plug and let the oil drain completely.

3. Remove Old Oil Filter:

   • Use the oil filter wrench to unscrew the old oil filter.
   • Make sure to check for any rubber O-rings that may remain on the engine and remove them if necessary.

4. Install New Oil Filter:

   • Before installing the new oil filter, apply a thin layer of new engine oil to the rubber O-ring on the filter. This ensures a good seal.
   • Screw in the new oil filter by hand, being careful not to overtighten.

5. Reinstall Oil Drain Plug:

   • Once all the oil has drained, reinstall the oil drain plug securely.

6. Add New Engine Oil:

   • Place a funnel in the oil filler hole and pour in the recommended amount of new engine oil.
   • Check the oil level with the dipstick, adding more oil as necessary.

7. Check for Leaks:

   • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
   • Inspect the oil filter and drain plug for any signs of leaks.

8. Dispose of Old Oil:

   • Properly dispose of the old oil and oil filter according to local regulations.
