-Torque wrench

  • Screwdriver set (flathead and Phillips)
    -Pliers
  • Brake cleaner
  • C-clamp or brake pad spreader
    -Clean cloth or rags
  • Safety gloves
  • Safety goggles

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Vehicle:

    • Park your ATV/UTV on a level surface.
    • Engage the parking brake to prevent any movement during installation.
  2. Remove the Wheels:

    • Using a socket wrench, loosen the lug nuts and then remove the wheels to access the brake components.
  3. Remove Old Brake Pads:

    • Locate the brake caliper and use a socket wrench to remove the bolts holding it in place.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor.
    • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper brackets. Take note of how the pads are positioned for reference during installation.
  4. Clean the Brake Components:

    • Use brake cleaner and a clean cloth to remove any debris or dust from the caliper, rotor, and surrounding areas.
  5. Prepare for New Brake Pads:

    • Compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp or brake pad spreader. Place the clamp over the caliper and against the piston, gently tightening until the piston is fully retracted.
  6. Install New Brake Pads:

    • Position the new brake pads into the caliper brackets in the same orientation as the old pads.
    • Reattach the caliper over the new brake pads and align it with the rotor.
  7. Secure the Caliper:

    • Replace and tighten the caliper bolts using a socket wrench. Be sure to adhere to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  8. Reinstall the Wheels:

    • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the slug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle and fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern using a torque wrench.
  9. Test the Brakes:

    • Before driving, pump the brake lever/pedal several times to ensure proper contact between the pads and the rotor.
    • Check for any unusual noises or issues.
  10. Final Check:

  • After a short test run, inspect the installation for proper adjustments and ensure everything is secure.

Safety Precautions:

  • Always wear safety gloves and goggles while working on your vehicle to protect against brake dust and debris.
  • Ensure you are working in a well-ventilated area when using brake cleaner.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed your new brake pads. Enjoy a safer and enhanced riding experience on your ATV/UTV!
