Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Bushings Replacement for E46 3-Series 1999-2006 E85 Z4 2003-2008 Compatible with Various Models
Installation Instructions:
Tools Required:
- Socket wrench or ratchet and socket set
- Ball joint separator or ball joint press
- New lower control arm ball joint bushings (2)
- Torque wrench
- Safety glasses and gloves
- Jack and jack stands
- Wheel chocks
Step 1: Jack up the vehicle and remove the wheel
Raise the vehicle using a jack and support it with jack stands. Remove the wheel to access the lower control arm.
Step 2: Remove the nut and washer from the lower control arm
Use a socket wrench or ratchet and socket to remove the nut and washer from the lower control arm. Be careful not to damage the threads.
Step 3: Remove the old ball joint bushing
Use a ball joint separator or ball joint press to remove the old ball joint bushing from the lower control arm. Be careful not to damage the surrounding area.
Step 4: Install the new ball joint bushing
Install the new ball joint bushing into the lower control arm. Make sure it is properly seated and aligned.
Step 5: Reinstall the nut and washer
Reinstall the nut and washer onto the lower control arm. Tighten the nut in a star pattern to ensure even torque.
Step 6: Lower the vehicle and tighten the nut
Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the nut in a star pattern to ensure even torque.
Step 7: Repeat for the other side
Repeat the process for the other side of the vehicle.

- Make sure to use a torque wrench to tighten the nut to the specified torque.
